An hour and half delay did not prevent the Panthers from starting strong on Friday night against the visiting Eagles. The Panthers built a quick 13-0 lead and eventually thwarted an Eagle comeback attempt to win 41-18 in penalty filled game at the Phosphate Bowl.
Elijah Cooper led the way on the ground with 147 yards on 14 carries and a touchdown. Arian Smith had 6 rushes for 56 yards and two touchdowns and also had an interception return for a touchdown as well as a dazzling 88 yard kick return.
Terren Hicks led the defensive effort with 12 solo tackles and the defensive line harassed the Eagle quarterback all night producing 6 sacks.
Mulberry returns to action Thursday night with a road trip to Arcadia to face the DeSoto County Bulldogs at 7:30.
